Leonie Price was an associate research fellow working on the SKILLNET project. She holds a BA in History from Durham University and recently graduated with an MA in Historical Research from the University of Sheffield. She specialises in material culture and the history of the family, with particular focus on the materiality of early modern marriage. Her MA thesis comprised a case study of a seventeenth-century English home, investigating the practice of inscribing initials upon objects and buildings as marital commemoration. The role of goods as emotional and social reinforcements is central to her research and will form the basis of her doctoral project. Leonie’s work with SKILLNET centred upon marriage patterns and attitudes to nuptiality among seventeenth-century Dutch scholars within the Republic of Letters.
